Blue Jays. A beautiful year round resident in Wisconsin, these large song bird’s blue coloring & impressive crest “hairdo” perfectly reflect their confident personalities.

DESIGN DETAILING: The Blue Jay on each potholder is a true one of a kind. The bird is the result of carefully placing 6 separate hand cut pieces together, from recycled sweaters I feel best represent their colors in nature. Each piece is sewn on individually & a specific order to to ensure and accurate 3D layering occurs. And To artistically emulate the real bird’s identifying feather patterns, I select from my recycled sweater scraps, pieces that will further accentuate Blue Jay's beautiful tail & wing feather patterns or the wings & tail feathers. This unique decorative feather detailing means no two potholders are the same. Subtle additional stitching helps bring each bird to life. A great gift for anyone who loves nature! *If you refer which way the bird is facing (over their shoulder or straight ahead) please specify otherwise I will decide.

Every potholder & ovenmitt is handmade from recycled wool sweaters, making each potholder/ovenmitt unique. Each potholder/ovenmitt is intended for use. Therefore, the sweaters are thoroughly felted, designs & seams are double stitched & 4 layers thick for extra durability. These extra considerations will also help them maintain their detailing when washed cold & air dried flat.

POTHOLDER OPTION: 8"x8" Handmade from RECYCLED wool sweaters, felted thoroughly for durability. Each potholder is 4 layers thick for high heat resistance.

OVENMITT OPTION: Every ovenmitt is also 4 layers thick, cut out by hand & sewn by me personally, I sew all of my ovenmitts as a "pinch grip" ovenmitt style. Although more complex to make, a "pinch grip" mitt allows you easily use it on either hand. Additionally, I sew every ovenmitt's design & handle loops congruently, so unlike the typical ovenmitt - a Fat Tomato Designs piece is NOT upside down when hung up in your kitchen!
